The highly anticipated round two of the Suzuki Series at Manfeild’s International Circuit did not disappoint the crowds.
The racing was fierce and the carnage was high with DNF’s from a few F1 Superbike favourite’s.
Tauranga based M1Motorsport’s Linden Magee Qualified 9th on pole for F1 Superbikes on race day and 1st In BEARS (British American European Racing)
Linden rode out and again commanded the BEARS class with a convincing victory.
Unfortunately we suffered a massive ‘off’ in Race One of the F1 Superbikes class, which Linden was very lucky to walk away from relatively unscathed, albeit “Very bloody sore”.
Which meant this ended the day’s campaign at Manfeild, but not the end of M1Motorsport’s 2013/14 campaign.
Linden said “I’m ok, just disappointed, a bit bruised and sore but will be right in a week or so. I’m determined to do well at the Nationals and get away from the mid pack craziness.”
Speaking with Team Manager; Robert Ramshaw “Moggy” explains “I was wandering out onto Manfeild’s pitlane with the pit-board and I heard the crowd gasp, I looked out and thought; uhoh, I recognise that bike, as it catapulted through the air.”
Linden was checked over by ambulance staff and will have a few bruises pop up over the next few days.
No rest for the wicked, Linden was back at work as soon as landing in Australia!
Moggy added “ I’m very happy with how the weekend went, I don’t feel it was wasted. We were able to progress to a point where the Valvoline Sponsored BMWS1000RR was running 6/100ths off the top riders.
We made some progressive changes that worked for Linden and he was very happy with the feel of the BMWS1000RR.
In the scheme of things, we were also able to introduce Linden to the 3.03km Manfeild circuit in preparation for the final two, of five rounds at the NZSBK Nationals.
I’m obviously glad that our rider Linden Magee is ok as he can be after such a spectacular crash, I’m happy with our progress and good communication, I’m still smiling regardless of how the day went and confident we can continue to progress.”
Onwards and upwards; we go and prepare for New Zealand Superbikes 2014, which kicks off in January hosted by Motorcycling Canterbury at Ruapuna’s Mike Pero Motorsport Park – Christchurch on the 4/5th January, 2014.
